Famous atrium hotel designed by architect John Portman, opened in 1973 as part of the Embarcadero Center urban renewal project, all designed by Portman. The Hyatt Regency's rooftop revolving restaurant called Equinox closed to the public in May 2007.

Featured in numerous films, including "High Anxiety", "Time After Time", and "The Towering Inferno".
