Castle Ter Balkt | monument

Belgium / Flamisch Brabant / Kampenhout /
 castle, monument

Originally a farm with water built by the abbey of Saint Michael of Antwerp. Now a complex of four wings around a courtyard under which flows the "Molenbeek" (millers brook). Following the restoration of 1912, by the family Witman, the building was given more the appearance of a castle. While bricklaying, old dates appeared from the recycled building materials that were used, who do not relate to this building. The latest restoration in neo-traditional style dates from 1968-69 by the family Mertens de Wilmars.
