USCG Station Los Angeles/Long Beach is one of the busiest stations in the US Coast Guard's 11th District, with an AOR extending from Dana Point to Point Dume and out 20 nautical miles to include Catalina Island.

With these waters heavily trafficked by recreational, commercial, passenger and military vessels and containing heavily utilized beaches, the station's small boats frequently partner with the LA County Lifeguards (Baywatch), Orange County Sheriffs, LA City Fire Department, LA City Lifeguards, Long Beach Fire Department and other agencies to accomplish their missions of Search and Rescue, Maritime Law Enforcement and Homeland Security.

The station is also home to Aids to Navigation Team (ANT) Los Angeles/Long Beach, which utilizes the Keeper Class Buoy Tender USCGC George Cobb (WLM-564) to maintain the aids-to-navigation in the stations AOR.
