"Cliff Dale" Ruins

USA / New Jersey / Alpine /
 interesting place, historic ruins

Built in 1911, these imposing stone remains are all that are left of George A. Zabriskie's "Cliff Dale" estate. The "Cliff Dale" mansion and other mansions along this stretch of river were purchased by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. in 1930 and donated by him to the Parks Commission in 1933 to form Palisades Park. The upper floors were removed by the WPA in 1939. Other remnants such as stone columns and what's left of the manmade pond are also scattered around the grounds.

There is a trail opening towards the left of the parking lot which leads to the site after about a mile of walking.
