The Episcopal Palace, is located in the Plaza del Obispo, near the cathedral, and often show varied temporary exhibitions but mostly it's interesting to see the building itself, a beautiful piece of architecture.
The Episcopal Palace is a collection of beautiful buildings, which was built under Bishop Laso of Castilla in 1762. The main façade has an impressive portal, built with marble of various colors and veining. On the third floor of the facade, there is a niche with a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, by the sculptor Manuel Agustin Valero. Inside is a courtyard with an imperial staircase leading to the rooms where exhibitions are carried out. This beautiful palace was destroyed in 1931, but after the war it was rebuilt in 1945. Inside, there are the private gardens of the bishop, with some wonderful eighteenth century tiles.
In fact, there are two palaces, one built in the 16th century the other in the 18th century.
The museum of religious art is housed in the latter and includes an excellent collection of paintings and goldsmiths' works.
