The Indonesian Fauna "Komodo" Museum and the Reptile Park present the enchantment of rare animals in preserved form and living reptiles. The architecture of the building takes the form of a komodo, an animal that only lives in the Komodo Island, East Nusa Tenggara, built on an area of 10.120 m2 with a building of 1.500 m2.
The theme of the exhibition is the variety of animals in Indonesia, from the west to the east and from coast to mountains, arranged in the two floors.
The collection of the first floor consists of mammals and reptiles complete with the conditions of the natural environment. Almost extinct species are presented among others the tiger, elephant and bear. Inside the "vitrin" or glass containers are various kinds of butterflies found all over Indonesia; various snails, cockle shells, crabs and shrimps; animal with joints including centipedes, spiders and scorpions.
The collection in the second floor consists of various kinds of birds, stuffed and arranged according to their habitat, including those living at sea, coast, swamps, rice-fields, fields, plantations, woods, forests and mountains coming from the original regions among others Sumatera, Kalimantan, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua.
The Reptile Park presenting live reptile collections has been constructed close to the Museum built on April 20, 2001. The visitors can recognize one after the other the unique animals starting with the komodo, monitor lizard, lizard, snake with legs, pythons, king cobras, tortoise shells, turtles with a snake neck, crocodile turtles, frogs, crocodiles, iguanas and other reptiles. Children with a high degree of curiosity and who always want to touch, can touch and play freely with the pythons in the Touch Park.
