Great Neck Station is on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch. The station marks the end of double track service on this branch, as it becomes single tracked east of here. Great Neck was originally the terminus of the New York and Flushing Railroad when it was built in 1866 by a subsidiary called the North Shore Railroad. The LIRR first leased the line in 1876. The current station was built in 1925, and the grade was brought below ground by 1934.'
