Ulipur Upazila (Kurigram district) with an area of 504.19 sq km, is bounded by Kurigram sadar and Rajarhat upazilas on the north, Chilmari and Sundarganj upazilas on the south, Raumari upazila and Assam State of India on the east, Pirgachha upazila on the west. Main rivers are Brahmaputra, Dharla, Tista and Dudhkumar.
Ulipur is located at 25.6639°N 89.6333°E. It has 63216 units of house hold. Ulipur (Town) consists of 9 wards and 15 mahallas. The area of the town is 15.78 sq km. The town has a population of 43170; male 49.99%, female 50.01%; population density per sq km 2736. Literacy rate among the town people is 33.5%. The town has one dakbungalow.
Ulipur thana, now an upazila, was established in 1902. There are 14 union parishads, 147 mouzas and 418 villages in the upazila.
Heritage and relics: Kazi Mosque in Daldalia Union (1214 AH), Arabic inscription of an unknown mosque of Husain Shahi period (preserved in the varendra research museum).
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 345205: male 50%, female 50 %; Muslim 89.79%, Hindu 8.65% and others 1.56%.
Religious institutions: Mosque 575, temple 14, most noted of which are Ulipur Masjidul Huda, Shahi Jami Mosque, Daldalia Kazi Mosque, three domed Panch Pir Mosque, Govinda Jeo Mandir and Kali Mandir.
