Goodwin Field is the third on-campus diamond to serve Cal State Fullerton and, since its inauguration, has been an undeniable home field advantage for the four-time NCAA National Champion. Thanks in part to extensive renovations and a committment by the university to transform the field into a state-of-the-art facility, the NCAA has named Goodwin Field as a host site for Regional play in five of the past six seasons and a host for Super Regional play in four of the last five years. A $3 million expansion project, spearheaded by a $1 million gift from Jerry and Merilyn Goodwin, has transformed the field into one of the premier collegiate facilities on the West Coast. The field now features the Wilson Clubhouse - which includes lockerrooms, a reception area and offices for the coaches - and the Doubek VIP Room. Priot to the 2006 season, covered batting cages in the area between the coaches offices and the Fullerton Arboretum will enable hitting and pitching at night or during inclement weather. The beauty and durability of Goodwin Field have also attracted many outside organizations. Numerous high school baseball tournaments, camps, television commercials and, most recently, the minor league Fullerton Flyers of the independent Golden Baseball League, have utilizted the facility. The facility has also been used by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and both the United States and Japanese national teams in preparation for the 2006 World Baseball Classic.
