hotel, Art Nouveau / Jugendstil (architecture), UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Hôtel Solvay is a town house designed by the Belgian architect Victor Horta (1861-1947). It was commissioned by Armand Solvay, son of the wealthy Belgian chemist and industrialist Ernest Solvay, and Mr. Solvay gave Horta free reign to design the interior and furnishings down to the last detail. As one of the prime examples of Art Nouveau design, the house is on the UNESCO World Heritage List along with three other Horta town houses.
