Florida State Road 29
State Road 29 roughly follows the old Harrisburg-Everglades branch of the Atlantic Coast Railway, which was created in the 1920s. State Road 29 followed this route, which was paved and in the late 1940s, when the railway became defunct. Road widening began in 1992, and was completed around 1999, which allowed wildlife from adjacent preserves to pass though culverts underneath the roadway.
