U.S. Route 41 (Southwest 8th Street)
The Tamiami Trail took 13 years, cost 8 million, and used 2.6 million sticks of dynamite in its construction. The Tamiami Trail officially opened on April 25, 1928. It was one of the most difficult road engineering plans ever carried out. This section, which runs from Naples to Miami, was originally labeled as US 94 (and "Old" Florida State Road 27), although that designation was been removed, and joined with US Route 41. The "secret" designation for this route is Florida State Road 90, for it is the southernmost roadway link connecting both coasts of the state.
