Yamato Road (SR 794)
This road stretches from US 1 (Federal Highway) at its eastern terminus to Coral Ridge Drive to its western end. It was named for the Yamato Colony, which was founded by Japanese immigrants who bought land in the area during the early 1900s. Although the colony only lasted a few decades, and was disbanded during World War II, a lone descendant of the family, George Morikami, stayed until his passing in 1976. His land, now moved further to the west, was donated to the county to form the Morikami Park and Museum.
