The Rongli Expressway (Chinese: 蓉丽高速), in full the Chengdu-Lijiang Expressway (Chinese: 成都-丽江高速公路) is an expressway in China, located in the provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan. The highway forms a bend must be from Chengdu through Panzhihua to Lijiang. The route takes in part by extremely mountainous terrain.
The highway has a somewhat striking route. The highway starts at Chengdu and then southward into the mountains, parallel to the border with Yunnan, to deflect later at Panzhihua to the West by the extreme south of Sichuan, and then only in Yunnan and the motorway at Lijiang ends. The route has both a North-South portion as an East-west section.
The highway runs in the South of Sichuan and Yunnan in through very mountainous terrain. The site has numerous mountain ranges with peaks between 3,000 and 4,000 metres, intersected by deep valleys and Gorges. Only the northernmost part of the route leads through flat terrain between Chengdu and Qianwei.
The motorway currently starts at the city of Renshou, a spacious 70 kilometers south of Chengdu. Here one crosses the Suihong Expressway (S40). The highway then performs about 50 kilometers southward through densely populated countryside, and then run East of Jingyan along. After one crosses the Lezi Expressway (S66). The second part of the route begins as the crow flies 400 kilometres further South at the mountain city of Panzhihua. Here is a junction with the Jingkun Expressway (G5). The highway enters here through the deep valley of the Jinsha River. Panzhihua is one of the few larger cities in the mountains of South Sichuan. The highway runs westward and enter here between 1,000 and 1,200 metres above sea level.
The highway will run through the Northwest of the province of Yunnan. The highway ends at present just after the border at Huaping. Endpoint Lijiang is more than 100 kilometers west from here, but there are deep valleys and high mountain ranges. The first part opened on 1 January 2014 for movement, a 41 km long section between Huaping in Yunnan and the G5 at Panzhihua in Sichuan province. On 30 december 2016 opened the first part in the lowlands of Sichuan, a 50 km long stretch between Renshou and Jingyan.
