Mount Emei (Chinese: 峨嵋山; pinyin: Éméi Shān; Wade-Giles: O2-mei2 Shan1, literally towering Eyebrow Mountain) is a mountain in Sichuan province of Western China. Mount Emei is often written as 峨眉山 and occasionally 峩嵋山 or 峩眉山. Mt. Emei was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.
one of the four Buddhist sacred mountains of China. At 3,099m, Mt. Emei is more than 1,000m higher than the other three Buddhist sacred mountains.

    Perhaps Spring or summer is the best time to climb this mountain. I spent 4 days climbing it last Jan. 2007 and didn't see it once. The mists are so dense and low this the wrong season to visit it.
