River Avon

The Avon enters Warwickshire near Rugby in the northeast and flows southwest through the county. Access from the River Severn at Tewkesbury made it an important trading route, contributing to the growth of major towns like Warwick and Stratford. These towns, and the many riverside villages , still benefit from its attractions. Navigable up to Stratford, it remains popular for cruising.
The river has a total length of 154 km (96 miles).
