User's Guide
Wikimapia is a public geographical online-encyclopedia. Therefore pluralism of opinions and political views is welcomed here. Nonetheless, our attitude towards any kind of racial or ethnic segregation, sex-based discrimination or any other actions aimed to limit people’s rights and liberties is unconditionally negative. All users moderating comments should remember this.
Here is a list of recommendations to help you successfully moderate comments:
- Your own views, beliefs and taste can not be the reason to delete comments.
- Some comments may not strictly relate to the object but to problems concerning the object. For example: a comment on traffic deterioration in the area of new housing can not be deleted.
- Comments must not reveal anyone’s personal data. Otherwise they must be at once deleted.
- Any critical comment without obscene language can not be deleted just because it’s critical.
- Any evaluative comment which does not violate Wikimapia’s basic rules can not be deleted for ‘flood’ or ‘unnecessary information’.
It is also important to remember that:
- Obscene language is forbidden.
- Spreading links that lead to harmful content and pornography is forbidden.
- The user is in charge of all the information published by him/her in comments.
Please note that administration can change the rules on working with comments at any time. We ask you to be understanding and adjust to any changes that are to make Wikimapia better.
