Monument to Taras Shevchenko

Opened March 6, 1939 for the 125 anniversary of Taras Shevchenko
(M.G.Manizer sculptor, architect E.A.Levinson).

Bronze figure of Shevchenko (height - 6,45 m; cast at the Leningrad factory of artistic casting) is installed on a pedestal of red granite (height - 7.3 m).

On the pedestal inscription: "T. Shevchenko. 1814-1861 ", below - the words of his" Testament ":

«I my big family,
In free family, new
Do not forget to commemorate
Unkindly, a quiet word. "

The monument was erected in the park. Shevchenko (The park was laid in 1887, with an area of ​​5.8 ha.)
