The Pattington Condominium Association (PCA) complex is located just West of the Waveland Park extension of Lincoln Park along Chicago’s lakefront. The complex occupies a 2.9-acre site, and is located in the block bounded by Irving Park Road on the South, Clarendon Avenue on the West, Bittersweet Place on the North and Marine Drive on the East. The complex consists of the Pattington and Bittersweet apartment buildings together with common parking garages, central heating plant and green spaces. The Pattington and Bittersweet buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1995 the Pattington Condominium Association earned the Richard Driehaus award presented by the Chicago Landmarks Preservation Council (now Landmark Illinois) for its restoration of windows and clay tile roof. The Pattington building, constructed in 1905, is a classic four-story walk-up double courtyard apartment building of brick and limestone masonry and was constructed in 1904/05. The Bittersweet building is a traditional three-story walk up apartment building constructed in 1906. The Pattington building has 74 condominium units and the Bittersweet building has 12 condominium units.
