1817 residence (Moscow)

Russia / Moscow / Moscow / Sofiyskaya naberezhnaya
 ruins, 1860s construction, 1810s construction

Owned by the Obolensky family in 1825, reconstruction occurred in 1861. At some point ownership of the building passed to different merchant families. In 1926 the residence was taken over by the Moscow housing association. Today the two-story with half basement structure differs from its neighbors for its central section with pilasters and balcony and its two roofed entrances. The adjacent three-story property at Sofiiskaya Embankment 20 has a similar history and both have plans for restoration.

The notes in Russian indicate that the wrought iron railings of the balcony were missing more than a year ago, that 10 months ago jackhammers were removing walls and 27 days ago there were dogs running around and the security guards threatened to have the writer removed.
