Masiahati High School established in 1918, started at the "Kachari Ghar"(Office-cum-Guest House/Out House) of "Mallick Bari" of village Kultia. Subsequently, Kultia Boys Primary School, Masiahati High School, Kultia Girls Primary/High School and Masiahati Degree College, Hostel, huge play grounds, large ponds, Post Office, Bank, Teacher's quarters, a small market place- all of them located within around 200 - 250 meters from each other, became an educational complex having Scout & Brotochary training at Masiahati high school since last 70 years, yearly prize giving ceremony etc -all these facilities in a remote 'bill' area!
In 1918 there was no communication. People of this area had to walk 5 miles through the ‘bill’ and different villages to reach the nearest railway station- Nowapara. Village Kultia was isolated from the rest of the world due to lack of communication, though Calcutta, which was the State Capital of Bengal during British period was only at around 140 km (88 miles) appx away from Nowapara railway station on Sealdah (Calcutta) – Jessore (district HQs) - Khulna railway route.
Two young men of Mallick family of Village Kultia- Late Balai Mallick & Late Sribatsha Mallick proposed the idea to their seniors/guardians of Mallick Bari to start a school of their own. Their guardians appreciated the idea and called a meeting of the other leaders of nearby eight villages which decided accordingly to establish a school of their own. On 1st February, 1918 the school started at the "Kachari Ghar"(Office-cum-Guest House/Out House) of "Mallick Bari" of village Kultia. Thereafter, mostly backward poor illiterate villagers of nearby 96 (ninety six) villages joined hand to develop Masiahati High School as their own school, wherein their children feel easy, homely and get all types of support both from the school faculty and the authority. Students beyond 96 villages also used to join this school for better prospect. Local villagers provide lodging & food for those students.
Late Upendra Nath Mallick of above mentioned Mallick family, an advocate and a social reformist took up the work of his ancestors to develop the area as well as the aforesaid Masiahati High School to its present shape of an educational complex. Due to his initiative several government officials/ministers since British period visited this school located in such an unknown remote area having no communication- by virtue of which the school and the area came to the notice of the administration.
Today, products of Masiahati High School & their children are now spreaded throughout the world.
