Reliant Energy's Indian River power plant

Originally built by Orlando Utilities Commission beginning in 1961, it eventually came to comprise 3 steam units and 4 combustion turbines. The 3 steam units were purchased by Reliant Energy in October of 1999.

The plant in total consists of 3 oil and gas fired steam units. U-1 is 85MW, U-2 is 180MW, and U-2 is 325MW. The plant is a microcosm of the evolution of power plant technology from the early '60's to the early '90's.

The 4 simple cycle combustion turbines are still owned by the Orlando Utilities Commission.
