  Moravian Institute was founded in 1963, first for Tibetan refugee children, and from the 1980's for non-Tibetans. It is a charitable educational Christian institution. Its boarding school section has about 400 day and boarding pupils. It is affiliated to CISCE (Council for ISC Examinations, New Delhi) and NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling (New Delhi). It also provides facilities to college level students.
