Originally the site of the Capitol Theatre, a live theatre and music house with its own orchestra and a renowned Wurlitzer organ, the largest of its kind in Canada at the time; it opened on March 21, 1921 at 820 Granville. The theatre was expanded in the early 1970's into the Capitol 6 multiplex (the 1st movie theatre with more than 3 screens in the Lower Mainland), which was closed in April 2005 and demolished to make way for the Capitol Residences.
