This odd looking little field was the spring training facility for the Chicago Cubs from 1921 to 1951.
The island as well as the team were ownd by William Wrigley, of chewing gum fame. He thought it would be a great idea to have his team play on his island. Everyone loved it except the visiting teams, who had to endure a long boat ride to get there.
The field had the exact dimensions as the Chicago ball park, and had a grand entrance, club house, and a small grand stand.
Today it is but a shell of it's former self, but is still used locally for sporting events.
