Painswick House was built in 1720 by Charles Hyett, however, the property is more renowned for it's garden, which was created by Hyett's son, Benjamin.
The 1980s saw a restoration take place due to the heavily overgrown nature of the garden and this was influenced by a painting by local artist Thomas Robins which depicted a 6 acre site in its original 18th century layout.
Features of the grand garden include buildings such as The Red House, The Eagle House and The Bothy Houses. These are dotted around the imposing Kitchen Garden and the unmissable '250' Maze.
