Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), metro station

Created as the original southern portal for the State St. Subway. This incline was used for Howard - Englewood/Jackson trains, prior to the colorization of the CTA system. On February 21, 1993 the current Green and Red lines were created by rerouting trains through a newly constructed subway tunnel connector and bypassing this section of track. 13th Street Incline is retained but is considered non-revenue trackage. It sees seldom use mostly related to reroutes for construction. Most recently this connector was used to reroute Orange line trains for the Harrison Curve reconstruction.
