  • My brother and I attended Victoria from 1954-1956 as boarders.(Irvine house) He completed the Senior Cambridge Certificate in 1956 and we both moved on to La Martiniere, Lucknow. I thoroughly enjoyed my schooling in Kurseong, especially all the excursions to Darjeeling and school matches with Goethals, St. Pauls and St. Josephs Northpoint.Going down to town was a real treat, but the climb back to school was pretty tiring if you could not afford a Landrover. Mr Bloud (chocho) was a popular master with the boys as he was an excellent cricketer. He had a good sense of homour and always spoke with a posh accent. Sadly, he is missed by all who knew him. Going home after final term was especially memorable, seeing your parents after 9 months up in the hills.
  • I completed I.C.S.E. from Victoria in 1993. I am a web content writer. It has been 13 years since I left Kurseong. I remember my English teachers Rashmi Rai and T.Das, especially their accents. Every day, I remember my Physics teacher, Deo Mani Moktan and his sense of humours. I met many Victorians here in Kathmandu; they are doing great, moreover they have capacities for doing. My best of luck to all the Victorians as well as to would be Victorians
  • I am an old boy of Victoria School, going back to the time when Mr Clark was Headmaster and his wife was my Art teacher. I also got to know their daughter Stephanie. I was only a Junior and billited at Commercial where my mother was Matron. I was a good runner and came first in the 220 yards sprint on Sports Day. I also won the Junior Boys Elocution contest... the year I think was 1948. I never made it to the Senior School as I was sent to England in 1949 where I completed my education. I have very fond if only faint memories of Victoria School which I visited in 1978 and played cricket with the boys. The Headmaster and boys all gave me a very warm welcome and treated like an honoured guest. It was a very special moment in my life. As a 9 and ten year old lad I also got to meet a young Priest from St. Mary's. Father Picachy later became a Cardinal and the Arch Bishop of Calcutta. I still have the rosery he gave me along with the photo taken at his Ordination of Priesthood. I have travelled the world and have lived in Canada, Nassau in the Bahamas, and now settled and retired in Brisbane, Australia. I also remember Mr Carl Bloud who later became Headmaster I believe for a time. His quarters were next to my mother's in Commercial. His nephnew Robin Bird was my best friend. I sometimes think of returning for another visit, but my health is not as it once was, and travelling today is not a very pleasant experience for me with all the unrest in the world. Better to stick with my happy memories. I wish the old and also the new boys at Victoria the very best in 2012 and the future.

  • I was a student here in this school and left the in 1958. Now that I am in the end of life I still dream of sleeping and waking up in the dormitory of the school. I had visited the school in 1978 and had chat with the school teacher of my days Mr. Chatterjee as he remembered me being three brothers coming to study all the way from Burma. If health permits I would like to visit the school before parting with the earth. As I had gained my ist education from this school and became an prominent Engineer.
  • Hi, From what you write I believe you are Mrs. French's son. I am Peter Young, VS 1943-49 and Remember Mrs French well and her son ( the name eludes me, since I am now 83 years of age, living in Calgary, Canada). I had a most enjoyable boyhood in VS and to this day remember a great deal of my time spent on the "hill-top". VS was one of the best experiences of my life and has made me a well grounded successful human being' with steadfast and rewarding values. My advise to all VS pupils 'soak it in', you will be rewarded in later life, commensurate with your VS learning and values. You will not regret it. I would welcome any communication from a Victorian and can be reached, by e mail, address:- toyoung@shaw.ca Cheers!!
