Daybreak Mine

USA / Idaho / Hauser /
abandoned / shut down, uranium mine

Uranium discovered here in the late 1940's and mined in the mid to late 1950's. Mineralogists used a Geiger counter to trace radioactivity in streams and traced the source to a spring located here. During its mining days, some of the best specimens of the mineral autunite and meta-autunite in global mineral collections and museum displays came from here. Mining conducted by Daybreak Uranium, Inc.
