U-66 was a German Type IXC U-boat built during World War II.U-66 was one of the most successful boats, succeeding in sinking over 200,000 tons of allied shipping in 9 patrols, a career lasting more than three years.On May 6, 1944 she was sunk by gunfire from Avenger and Wildcat aircraft.with 24 dead and 36 survivors.
