From just west of Foothill and Vaughn in Sylmar, extending east to the dry riverbeds and foothills, pioneer silent era movie director D.W, Griffith had a studio ranch here which was 550 acres of mountains, riverbeds and orchards. This outline is a generalization, looking for a more specific outline.

The only remnant of this once monumental filming location is a largely ignored historical marker.
