Republic Studios back lot (historic site) (Los Angeles, California)

USA / California / Los Angeles / Los Angeles, California
place with historical importance, studio - to be replaced, historical layer / disappeared object

When the studio was under the owner of Herbert J. Yates, it was a consolidation of several smaller companies, including Mascot Pictures (owned by Nat Levine who leased and ran the studio), Monogram Pictures and several others. It was acquired out of the bankruptcy of Mack Sennett, who went broke during the early days of the depression/talkie era.

This outline represents the rough dimension of the area of Republic's back lot. It had extensive standing sets including Western streets, middle America houses, small town businesses, News York street, Mexican village and the like. Also included a small lake, a jungle area, some "cowboy" like cliffs for daring-do, and a "Tara" like mansion.

There are some small outdoor sets today, but has mostly been replaced with studio production bungalows.
