Chesterwood was the summer estate and studio of American sculptor Daniel Chester French (1850-1931). French is best known for his sculpture of the seated Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Chesterwood was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965. It is now a house museum of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
