The sole operating kiln at Aberthaw Cement Works. It commenced operation in 1975. The "raw meal" silos are at top right. Raw meal is fed to the 4-stage preheater tower (top left) and is sintered to form clinker in the rotary kiln before being cooled in the ten satellite cooler tubes at the bottom of the picture. The clinker is then transfered to the round clinker store on the left. No.6 Kiln (shut down in 1987) was in the long building on the right.
