This resort village is located on and around the site of a former provincial tuberculosis sanitorium. The facility was converted into a fine arts complex, where a substantial summer program was operated until the early 1990s when the provincial government terminated its funding. After losing money for years as a conference centre, the former sanatorium complex is presently up for sale.
