Description:
Snail Lake Regional Park, consisting of 450 acres, is located in the City of Shoreview in the north-central part of Ramsey County. The park provides a large natural area in a highly developed urban area. The park's extensive areas of oak woods, wetlands and grasslands provide habitat for many species of wildlife, including deer, fox, heron, egrets and waterfowl. Two miles of hiking trails offer visitors the opportunity to experience nature.
At the center of Snail Lake Regional Park is the swimming beach and picnic area on Snail Lake. This 35 acre area includes a swimming beach, picnic area, parking lots, boat launch and hike/bike trails. Future planned improvements include a beach building (restrooms, changing rooms and concessions), group picnic shelters and children's play area.
The remainder of the park is maintained as a nature preserve and will accommodate hiking, biking and cross country ski trails. The bike trails within the park connect to existing and planned city and regional trails adjacent to the park.
