 office building, monastery

The Convent Van Maerlant is a former convent which consists of a church and a chapel on the rue Van Maerland in Brussels (Belgium).
The buildings were rebuilt in the early 1900s, from their original location by the Dames de l'Adoration perpétuelle who were forced to move. The Dames since moved out and the church is now the central library of the European Commission. They are the only pre-Second World War buildings to be left standing on this road after the advent of the European institutions.
