The Dams to Darnley Country Park contains about 550 hectares of green space between Barrhead, Parkhouse, Nitshill and Newton Mearns. The Barrhead Dams are the most striking feature within the Country Park, but the area also includes Darnley Mill and Waulkmill Glen. There are areas of woodland, and much of the Country Park is still working farmland.
