  • My dad was stationed there in WWII, flying Lend-Lease B-24 Liberators. In 1996 my nephew was on a tour in India, and visited the town of Kolar, but nobody was alive who remembered the airfield, which was several miles from the town center, so he wasn't able to pay a sentimental vist to what might remain.
  • Remember this airstrip very fondly. KMSC used this strip to host a Track Event in 1984. First time I saw Ford Image and Atlantic formula cars that were a part of Vijay Mallya's Team McDowells. Remember seeing Tiff Needell in the pits along with the Late Kari Vardhan (Coimbatore). Also remember the RD-350 powered cart that Kari had with him for fun. I think for some time the Food Corporation of India used to store grain on the tarmac.
