Newly opened in 1998, this is the Museum of the Forest, celebrating two hundred years of the Forestry Department in Russia. The museum recreates a forest complete with real trees, granite riverbed, stuffed animals and realistic sounds. There are also exhibits of things made of wood including a wooden bench that is over a thousand years old, musical instruments, an izba or wooden cottage, and samples of wood from almost nine hundred species of trees.
