Home of the longest running annual sporting event in North America, held the first Wednesday of August, weather permitting. The area around the lake has been named home to the largest population of Seagulls in North America by bird watching groups.

  • The capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador is most emphatically NOT "Saint Johns." It is St. John's. This is important, as there is in fact a Saint Johns in New Brunswick, and it is not unknown for travellers to go to one place instead of the other--and there are a few thousand kms and a body of water between the 2 cities. It is correct above, but not on the city co-ordinates under Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • I to am outraged at the inaccurate designation.
  • Well, of course, the one in New Brunswick isn't Saint Johns either, it's Saint John.
