2004 memorial to Chicago Firefighters lost in the line of duty. It is located here in memory of the 21 firefighters lost who lost their lives fighting the December, 1910 Union Stock Yards Fire. The 21, including the city Fire Marshall, died in a building collapse. There would not be a greater loss of American firefighters in a building collapse until 11 September 2001.
