Aircraft hangar at Chicago Vocational Career Academy. The hangar was built during World War Two when the school came under control of the United States Navy, which used the school primarily to train aviation mechanics.
For many years after the war, aviation mechanics remained in the curriculum. Students even managed to completely rebuild an aircraft, and got permission to use a nearby street as a runway to fly the aircraft to Midway Airport.
