Parliament House is the name given to a purpose-built building opened in 1988 in Canberra, the capital of Australia. The final cost was over $1.1 billion, making Parliament House the most expensive building in Australian history. Prior to 1988, the Parliament of Australia met in the Provisional Parliament House, which is now known as "Old Parliament House".
