The old parliament is a converted hotel that became the parliament for Rwanda before the 1994 genocide. The Hutu’s gained control of the city and murdered the people staying at the parliament, and later the Tutsi came back and took control of it once again. This parliament remains untouched today with the remnance of war. It is a reminder to the Rwandese people of the tragedies that took place not so long ago.

  • You're oversimplifying things by saying "Hutu" and "Tutsi" in that way. Please don't do that.
  • you are right..It's sad sometimes that some people identified themselves as such. Why people sometimes can't identify themselves as Rwandans in place of their ethnicity? Try to see the movie ' HOTEL RWANDA 'and 'SOMETIMES in APRIL'so that anybody can understand how Hatred can exterminate a population..
