This is a dark, shaded gorge almost 3 miles in length. Until an earthquake in 1907, the gorge was one of the eight flowing rivers of the Ocho Rios area. The river disappeared during the earthquake and the river bed was turned into a paved road. The dense fern growth appears to have been growing in place since the beginning of time, despite such a recent start. The gully is part of the road connecting Ocho Rios and Kingston that passes through Spanish Town.
