Northbound traffic sees the sight of southbound traffic - usually on the right - crossing over northbound traffic FROM THE RIGHT! The downhill speed is quite disconcerting for the first time driver. After crossing under, northbound traffic stays along a valley floor (with a housing development off to the left) before starting its dramatic climb to the top of the Violin Summit.

Southbound traffic has a picturesque ranch as a guidepost, letting them know the drop into the Santa Clarita valley is about to begin. Northbound traffic crosses over, and then the drop begins! At the very bottom of the drop, it swings to the right and crosses back over northbound traffic.
