Prnjavor is a town located in north part of BiH, on the Ukrina River, near Banja Luka. It spreads on the area of 5.5 km2; the number of inhabitants of the town amounts to about 13,000 and it is decreasing. It is caused by a low standard of living and constantly high unemployment rate in this economically backward region destroyed during the war. A huge number of inhabitants go to Western Europe in search of work; however, not everybody stays there permanently. More and more people return, bringing some financial capital and a new attitude to life. These people constitute the “driving force” of changes that have been getting faster and faster in recent years. As a result of increased business activity during the last five years, over 2 thousand people have found employment in the private sector, and the commune budget has had a threefold increase in income. Because of a huge acreage of fertile arable land in the area of the Prnjavor commune, agriculture has been acknowledged as the key branch of economy. Over 20 thousand hectares of land are cultivated here, 610 hectares of which are allotted for fruit farming
