The centre section of this building (the one with the darker roof) was the headquarters of the Canada and Dominion Sugar Company at one time. After a bunch of mergers and such over the years, C+D Sugar became Redpath Sugar. This building was vacated by C+D some time in the late 1960s. Now home to Copper Terrace Long Term Care Home, this building has grown newer wings housing some 155 beds for those in need.

It is owned by the Schuller Family and operated by APANS Health Services of London.

The areas surrounding the building were once home to a large sugar beet processing facility. An image of the area at that time can be found here:

My home is the sixth house down the street in front of Copper Terrace, on Crystal Drive and it is not uncommon to have a sugar beet sprout in the lawn after being there since before 1971 when the area was built up as residencial.
