Railway passenger services to Sines ceased in 1991. The passenger building of the railway station is now used by the City Council as the Municipal School of Arts, where music and instrument lessons are provided. The former goods shed was slightly modified and is now a restaurant. All tracks were removed and the surrounding area is now a "green corridor" with gardens and a small sport and kids park.
